Odd Couple: Shrimp goby and blind shrimp
These shrimp goby live in a symbiotic relationship with shrimps(they sharing same burrow). The shrimps are almost blind and need the goby to keep an eye out for predators. Shrimp goby needs a hiding place and benefits from living in the burrow excavated by the shrimp.

I’m sure many people already know about relationship this shrimp and goby.
But I’m still very curious to know how they actually decide to pair up in the first place?
Cardinalfish Mating Dance
I believe this is the mating/courtship dance of cardinal fish (Apogon sp.). The male is changed color (whiter than female) and open it’s mouth often.
I was expecting to see that male taking eggs in his mouth from female but no luck. There were many pairs of mating cardinalfishes like these.

암본에서 촬영한 줄도화돔(카디널 피쉬, Apogon sp.)의 구애 장면입니다.
사실 구애 장면이 맞는지 100% 확실하지 않습니다만 수컷으로 추정되는 녀석이 보통때에 비해 색이 연하게 바뀌었고 입을 계속 여는(줄도화돔은 구강부하를 합니다.) 행동을 하는 것으로 봐서 산란 직전의 행동으로 판단됩니다. 사실 암놈이 산란하고 수컷이 입에 알을 넣는 장면을 볼 수있지 않을까 50여분 기다려 보았으나 확인하진 못하였습니다.

packing – uw photographer’s ultimate challenge
오늘 (2월 23일)부터 인도네시아 암본, 렘베, 마나도로 약 2주간 촬영갑니다. 암본은 작년 5월에 이어 두번째인데 이번엔 underwater.kr의 촬영가들과 함께하는 여행이라 더욱 의미가 있습니다.
매번 가방 갯수는 늘어나는 듯 하는데 공간은 여전히 부족합니다. 최근엔 항공사들의 빡빡한 규정때문에 짐 싸는 것에 신경을 쓰지 않을 수 없네요. 불필요한 것은 빼고 꼭 필요한 것만 챙긴다는 것이 촬영가들에게는 그다지 쉬운 일은 아닌듯 합니다(꼭 현장에서 왜 그걸 가지오지 않았을까 후회하는 일이 생기곤 하니까요).

암본 일정후에 다시 찾을 렘베와 마나도에서는 그동한 생각해 두었던 몇가지 아이디어를 차분하게 시도해 보려고 하고 있습니다. 다녀와서 다시 뵙지요. :)
